1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WalletHub ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

WalletHub is a personal finance management application that provides:

debit tracking and management (Mydebit)
Expense splitting among friends (Split)
Personal wallet and transaction tracking (Wallet)
Recurring payment management (Payments)
Savings goals tracking (Piggy Bank)
Group savings/ROSCA management (ROSCA)
Currency exchange rates (Currencies)
Real-time collaboration and notifications
Document and receipt attachment storage
Data export capabilities (PDF, CSV)
Offline functionality with automatic sync
Biometric security features

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

Provide accurate and complete registration information
Maintain the security of your account credentials
Promptly update your information if it changes
Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3.3 Biometric Authentication

WalletHub offers optional biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, Fingerprint) for enhanced security. When enabled, biometric data is processed entirely on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to your biometric data. You can enable or disable biometric features at any time in app settings.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any illegal purpose
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Impersonate any person or entity
Interfere with or disrupt the Service
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
Upload malicious code or content
Scrape or collect data from the Service without permission
Use the Service for money laundering or fraudulent activities

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within the Service, including transaction records, notes, attachments, and other data. By using the Service, you grant us a license to store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.

5.2 Shared Content

When you share financial information with other users (e.g., through expense splitting, debit tracking, or ROSCA groups), you acknowledge that those users will have access to that shared information, including any attached documents or images.

5.3 Attachments

You may upload attachments (photos, receipts, documents) to the Service. By uploading content, you:

Confirm you have the right to upload and share such content
Grant us permission to store and display the content
Accept that attachments on shared records will be visible to connected users
Understand attachment storage is limited to 5MB per file

5.4 Data Export

You may export your data at any time in PDF or CSV format. Exported data is for your personal use and you are responsible for the security and handling of any exported files.

6. Financial Information Disclaimer

WalletHub is a tool for personal financial tracking and organization. We do not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The Service is not connected to any bank or financial institution. All financial data entered is self-reported by users. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your financial records and any financial decisions you make.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

7.1 Free and Premium Features

WalletHub offers both free and premium subscription tiers. The free tier includes limited usage of core features. Premium (Pro) subscriptions unlock:

Unlimited records, accounts, and goals
Biometric app lock (Face ID, Touch ID, Fingerprint)
Document and receipt attachments
Advanced data export options
Priority customer support

7.2 Subscription Plans

We offer the following subscription options: Monthly, 6-Month, and Yearly. Subscription plans and pricing may be updated periodically.

7.3 Billing

Subscriptions are billed through your app store account (Apple App Store or Google Play). By subscribing, you agree to the payment terms of your respective app store. Payment processing is handled by RevenueCat and the respective app stores.

Important Payment Disclaimer: WalletHub does NOT store, collect, or process any credit card details, banking credentials, or payment information on our servers. All payment transactions are securely processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store payment systems. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status from these platforms.

7.4 Free Trial

We may offer free trial periods for premium features. At the end of the trial, you will be charged the subscription price unless you cancel before the trial ends.

7.5 Cancellation and Restore Purchases

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your app store settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until your subscription expires.

Manage your subscription:

iOS: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, or visit Apple Account Subscriptions
Android: Go to Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions, or visit Google Play Subscriptions

Restore Purchases: If you have previously purchased a subscription and need to restore it (e.g., after reinstalling the app or switching devices), you can restore your purchases within the app by going to Settings > Subscription > Restore Purchases. Your subscription status will be automatically synced with your app store account.

7.6 Apple Subscription Terms

Payment will be charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
Your Apple Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period at the cost of the chosen package.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Apple Account Settings after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.

7.7 Google Play Subscription Terms

Payment will be charged to your Google Play Account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
Your Google Play Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period at the cost of the chosen package.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.

8. Real-Time Features

WalletHub provides real-time collaboration features including:

Instant notifications when friends add or modify shared records
Online/offline presence indicators
Live typing indicators in comments
Real-time balance and record updates

These features require an active internet connection. Offline changes are queued and synchronized automatically when connectivity is restored.

9. Device Permissions

To provide full functionality, WalletHub may request the following device permissions:

Camera: To capture photos of receipts and documents
Photo Library: To select existing photos for attachments
Contacts: To help you add friends and split expenses (contacts are not uploaded to our servers)
Notifications: To alert you about transactions, friend requests, and reminders
Face ID/Biometrics: To enable secure app locking

All permissions are optional and can be denied or revoked at any time. Denying permissions may limit certain features but will not prevent basic use of the Service.

10. Analytics and Tracking

WalletHub uses analytics and tracking services to improve our Service, measure performance, and understand user behavior. By using the Service, you acknowledge that we use the following third-party services:

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: For app analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring
PostHog: For product analytics and feature usage analysis
Microsoft Clarity: For session recordings and heatmaps to improve user experience
Tenjin: For attribution analytics and marketing campaign measurement

iOS App Tracking Transparency: On iOS 14.5 and later, we will request your permission to track your activity for advertising and attribution purposes. You may decline this request without affecting your ability to use the Service.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by WalletHub and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our Service without express written permission.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. You may also delete your account at any time through the app settings.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WALLETHUB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WalletHub and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

17. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be settled through binding arbitration.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
